CORRECTIONS: jump

2015 - ongoing

public art proposal for mass transit; variable dimensions

Incarceration often eludes those privileged to exist in a too-big-to-fail sphere. Brian Stevenson said it best: “We have to reform a system of criminal justice that continues to treat people better if they are rich and guilty than if they are poor and innocent.”

jump calls attention to the detail that only one person responsible for the 2008 financial crisis was charged and sentenced for his participation in defrauding millions of Americans.

In lieu of prison, jump proposes that all those who were complicit in this social crisis be required to wear a three-piece business suit, shirt, and tie made from the same orange cloth commonly associated with incarceration.
